Community enrichment classes open to families, support people, and community members. Offerings include:

  • An accessible entry point into perinatal care for individuals interested in supporting birth work in their own communities. The program builds:

    • Foundational clinical support skills

    • Cultural grounding and community-based care practices

    • Emergency readiness and response

    • Pathways into employment in birth settings

    Designed to build confidence, competence, and connection—creating accessible entry into the maternal health workforce for Hawaiʻi-based students.

  • LCBC is strengthening pathways for Hawaiʻi-based students to enter and remain in the profession. Contact us to learn more about apprenticeship opportunities for hands-on learning and support in navigating local and remote learning programs.

  • LCBC is supporting practicing community-based midwives interested in transitioning into insurance-accessible practice as Medicaid recognition for all three midwifery credentials moves forward in Hawaiʻi. This stabilizes livelihoods and expands the families who can access care from providers they already trust.

Lehua Community Birth Center and Wellness Clinic

Anticipated to be available by the end of 2026: Care will be available through insurance reimbursement and scholarship support, and delivered in coordination with a broader network of providers.

Full-scope midwifery care will include:

  • Reproductive Health

  • Well-women Care

  • Prenatal care

  • Birth services (freestanding birth center)

  • Postpartum and newborn care

  • Lactation support

  • Integrated mental health support for pregnancy and postpartum
